What I learned about AI after completing a 9 week course on AI Content Creation

Daunting but resourceful. I completed a 9 week program from MarketingProfs about Content Creation for AI. Here are my favorite slides (one from each) from most of the presenters that would be beneficial for my small business owners or corporate professional with too many tasks:

Christopher S. Penn: WHAT CONTENT CREATORS NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GENERATIVE AI

I really enjoyed his examples of prompts from social media posts ideas to rephrasing customer complains with rewriting (i.e. “Karen in Accounting”) – I only showed the social media example picture though!

Cathy McPhillips: AI AND YOU: THE CREATIVE DUO REVOLUTIONIZING MARKETING CONTENT

Love how I started thinking about AI (not as a threat to my business as a marketing consultant) but how it can help me as a small business owner with its tools like she mentioned in this slide:

Ann Handley: HOW TO WRITE LIKE THE ROBOTS CAN’T (I’m obsessed with Ann and I highly recommend the 2nd edition of her book for everyone who has to write content in their jobs or business)

I am more intentional on my prompts on ChatGPT based on these phrases from Ann:

Ruth Carter, Esq. : AI, CONTENT, AND THE LAW: WHAT MARKETERS NEED TO KNOW RIGHT NOW

The more I learn about the AI, the less confident I feel about “knowing” more about it. The presentation by this attorney, made it more obvious about how there is so much to learn about the Law. This slide is the memorable to me out of the whole 9 weeks:

Erika Heald: AI: THE ULTIMATE WINGMAN FOR YOUR BRAND VOICE

Understanding your customer and having a template (or table) to have as a reference to consistently deliver the same wording in your communications. This prompt idea might also be useful as a guide to new employees:

Wil Reynolds: AI AND SEO: DISRUPT YOUR CONTENT STRATEGY FOR BETTER SEARCH RESULTS

My mind was most blown away during Wil’s presentation because it was so past my scope of knowledge, especially incorporating the data aspect along with SEO.

Andy Crestodina: AI + PERSONAS

I am a huge fan of Andy’s courses on MarketingProfs but there was so much to takeaway from his presentation. This slide on a gap analysis (what is missing from a page) could be crucial to address needs or seeing what could be opportunities for improvement for your pages (or watch your competitors).

Finally! This was an honor to be selected as a “celebrity” contestant. But I was so nervous about being one of three contestants battle to create AI prompts according to instructions from Ann Handley and Christopher Penn (in front of a live audience of 200). I was up against the fabulous Brooke B. Sellas and supermarketer (with a huge heart) Chris Brogan. I am in the middle of a 9 week course on AI content creation with MarketingProfs and it was out of my comfort zone. But I challenge you (marketers) to always try to push yourself. If I can do, so can you! 🙂
