You’ve Mastered LinkedIn. Now Let’s Talk ChatGPT Visibility.
At Beyond Engagement Social Media Solutions, I help small businesses get more visibility on Instagram and LinkedIn by working one on one with them with consultations. Your next client might be asking ChatGPT for help but will it mention you?
I asked ChatGPT how I can show up in search results there. It game me a list of ways. I also asked it to create a blog outline. When I write blog posts, it helps me absorb the information I’m trying to learn more effectively.
Remember when you used to ask on Facebook or asked for a recommendation for a service? Now people are utilizing: ChatGPT, Copilot, Perplexity, or Gemini. How can you show up on these platforms? Here is what I learned:
People are using less of Google and using more tools such as the ones mentioned above. The questions they are asking in the prompts could be:
“Who offers AI training for small business owners in Allentown and/or Easton Pennsylvania?”
“What marketing consultant helps Gen X CEOs with social media?”
(Tip: Think of questions your customers might be asking about your services)
The biggest thing that I’m learning is that you have to put your name or business name in the right way to show up.
I’m going to literally copy and paste this from ChatGPT:
Step 1: Make Your Website “AI-Friendly”
- Use structured data (
schema.org) — like giving AI a map of who you are.- Add
OrganizationandPersonschema for you and your business. - Include your name, title, and location.
- Add
- Make sure your site’s text mentions:
- Who you help
- What you do
- Where you are (Lehigh Valley / Allentown, PA)
- Add a sitemap to Google Search Console.
Step 2: Double check your Digital Footprint
These AI tools are searching the website for the consistency about your information. This would be a good time to view that these places all match the same keywords
- LinkedIn headline and About section (check your contact info – so many don’t have an email displayed anywhere)
- Google Business profile
- Eventbrite speaker bios
- Podcast appearances or guest articles
It is a good idea to combine your name and business together such as what I did in the first line of this blog post. Bonus tip that I learned in my search included adding words such as “featured on,” “speaker at,” or “partner with” with badges to build credibility.
Step 3: Publish Blog Posts That AI Understands
I love that AI learns from your content that you publish. This has helped me create social media posts and blog articles to sound like the Miami native that I am with a happy go lucky tone.
Don’t forget to post articles that include your location and niche audience. Bonus: add FAQs, lists, and keywords. Think of answering question such as these on your posts:
“How can small businesses use AI for marketing to increase their online presence?”
“What social media trends are best for Gen X entrepreneurs who don’t like using social media daily?”
There is another thing I’m literally copying and pasting from ChatGPT:
Step 4: Tell AI It’s Okay to Find You
- Add this to your
robots.txtfile:User-agent: GPTBot Allow: / User-agent: ChatGPT-User Allow: / - Explain: This gives OpenAI permission to “read” your public website — so it can reference you in future responses.
Step 5: Keep Showing Up Elsewhere
You can’t just post on your site and expect to be found on ChatGPT. Add content in other places such as LinkedIn articles, your local Chamber’s site, podcasts. The secret sauce to building this visibility is adding backlinks (other websites) by what I call “double dipping:” you share their link on here and hope they do the same for you on their end.
Now that have you steps. Don’t forget to be consistent. Need an accountability partner and marketing consultant? If you want help making your brand more visible in AI-driven search tools like ChatGPT, let’s chat!
