I was asked by  Ellen Myatt to assist her in presenting  the topic of Netiquette specifically Messaging, Murder, and Other Crimes: Remaining Safe in a Viral World at the 11th Grade Career Expo at Eastman. To be honest, she’s been doing this presentation for years and created the PPT herself. I was included in the presentation to cater it to the latest in social media for the teenager audience. I put emphasis about the messages that are posted online, stay online! For example:
  • Twitter: tweets being recorded in the Library of Congress Meaning: Stop complaining, ranting, or bullying because it’s will be saved online –forever!
  • Facebook: College Admission Offices using this platform to screen students. Meaning: students should be careful of what they post as status updates, pictures shared & tagged of themselves because it might expose themselves to others, and caution to pages they “like” on this platform. Creating “lists” to post for different audiences of friends not just to their 500 “friends”
  • Instagram: It has opened up to web profiles this past week. Meaning: Pictures posted are now visible on the website for others to see even if you have your settings set to private.
    Ellen put emphasis on the crimes that Viral World has inflicted onto others such as Identity Fraud, Plagiarizing, Slander, Violating Employment Agreements, Murder, and Bullying to mention a few…
